Greg, If I'm reading your CPU model correctly, this is a G3 machine? If so, you might have to wait a while for the first messages to start showing up. Also, double check whether the tape is SL or NL, as Hank suggested. If you look closely at his JCL, you'll note he writes out multiple sets of the three files. This makes it possible to make multiple attempts before having to rewind the tape. In my experience IPLing from tape, that's a good idea. :)

There is no error message generated to the HW console. There is no message generated to the OS messages ICON either. I know this is not a case of the drive not being configured to the LPAR, I have been there already (thanks).
