Question for the group mind.....

We have been trying to get smtp on os/390 to do some batch e-mail sending.

The problem was that the e-mails would always include the dns name of the
tcp/ip address associated with that OS/390 image

so you'd get widget.co.hennepin.mn.us on all from addresses. We could not
find a way to stop it from doing that.

We are now looking at routing this in some fashion through sendmail either
on Linux or on os/390. Currently sendmail on linux is also picking up the
DNS name associated with the IP address of the linux box, which I expected.
What I'd like to know is how to make sendmail behave as if the address it
appends to the user name sending the mail was co.hennepin.mn.us - which is
our domain, without prefixing the machine name onto the e-mail address.

If that last bit made sense, I'm hoping someone out there in more
knowledgeable than I land can come up with an answer.

thanks!
