You actually cut off the part that tells you more... \"...that can be defined on a port of an OSA-Express when running in QDIO mode\" I read this as the number of TCP/IP stacks -- z/OS, z/VM, Linux, either in an LPAR or running as a guest of z/VM -- that have opened a device definition on the OSA. In other words, count the number of DEVICE/LINK and /etc/chandev.conf entries that refer to UCBs defined on that OSA CHPID. As I read it, it does *not* refer to other LPARs or guests which do not open the OSA directly (i.e. those that access the outside world via a Linux guest or z/VM TCPIP that accesses the OSA).
