Jean-Pierre, I was successful in installing SLES 7 under z/VM 4.2 using CDs provided by SuSE on a z800. The one thing that is different is that we are running the cards no Non-QDIO mode (SNA support is needed by other guests), so I had to choose the traditional Ethernet adapter instead of the OSA Express. The OSA Express cards in non-QDIO mode look to the operating system as an OSA2.
