YEP...that was it...I downloaded and installed pam-devel from ftp site (cd2)
and the ./configure worked ok.

Another quick question....I just notice that my SUSE SLES7 does not seem to
have ext3 support.
The "man mke2fs" shows no   -j   flag.

How do I get ext3 support on my SUSE SLES7 system?
