A good example of *one* of the conversations going on here.  I totally agree
that for the *business* of software development, the PWD program all but fills
the need.  In order to start a business along these lines, however, one must
already be a) aware of the existence of S/390, and b) sufficiently proficient in
the environment to convince a bank manager to extend the required finance to
you.

This does *not* address the other conversation going on here, the so-called
hobbyist licensing \"issue\".  For an unemployed ex-sysprog who wants to keep
his/her skills current US$13k would be a stretch, forgetting that they wouldn\'t
be able to get it for that anyway given that they would not qualify for PWD.
Neither is MVS 3.8 on Hercules a solution, being so out of date.
