Striping in LVM makes a fantastically huge difference.  The database import time was 
reduced by 50% when striped across 10 3390-9 vs non-striped.  We have 2 z/900 engines 
dedicated to our VM lpar.  the best performance i've seen for oracle is defining 4 
virtual cpu's but your mileage may vary on that.  the dba's had a problem running a 
shutdown script brought over from HPUX, but adding a "#!/bin/sh" to it solved that 
problem.  I haven't been following this list much lately so I don't know what else has 
been discussed, but those were some of the things we've encountered.
