See the presentation section on linuxvm.org for my SCSI for zSeries
presentation on this topic. We currently have hundreds of GB of data on ESS
and EMC devices accessed in this way (i.e. without the ECKD emulation).

Has anyone done anything with Storage Area Network (SAN) devices on VM
and/or Linux? We have a potential new application for Linux on VM that
could need Terabytes of data storage, but we don't have that much free DASD
storage left on VM. Money is incredibly tight this year and we won't be
buying any new DASD devices. We do have an EMC SAN device that could fill
the bill if we can get ESCON connectivity to it.

How do these connect up? Do they look like DASD volumes - 3390 or FBA?
Basically, how do I gen one in the IOCDS to VM so Linux can use it?
