My biggest problem with most of the tools is that I spend more time trying to figure out how to make the tool do what I want to do than in deciding what I what to do... If I code my own html, then I have no problem doing what I want to do, and can get on to the next page.
The tools are fine, if you want to design pages that fit the mold that the tool creator envisioned for most web pages. If you get off that track (which seems to be a lot of the time for me), then it's a struggle to use the tool at all. See http://villa.lakes.com/mnimages for an example.
