I'd say the hope that all problems will go away with the next kernel level does not encourage me to try and understand the possible cause in the 2.4.7 kernel. Because people reported such massive time shifts I find it hard to believe it is due to rounding errors or leaking a 'rupt now and then. The change in algorithm is large enough that I would expect different problems with the new code.
