If perhaps you mean "completely reinstall linux" == "not difficult" then
yeah. :)

There is currently no migration path from 31 bit to 64 bit, especially
considering that as far as the RedHat installer is concerned you would be
migrating from a 7.2 31 bit system to a 7.1 64 bit system. I would be
willing to bet that the installer would refuse to do such a downgrade.

Of course - I don't work for RedHat, this is just based on my experience.
My understanding is that both RedHat and SuSE are going to be putting more
effort into the upgrade paths on their future s390/s390x releases.

Alex:

Good question. The decision is do you want to run supported vendor
software now or avoid a migration in the future. I don't expect the
migration to be difficult, but I can't speak from experience. I expect
others on the list will chime in.
