If I understand your question I think you change /etc/rc.config IPADDR_n for the net config to the different IP address, change the IFCONFIG_n and the FQHOSTNAME to your new name. Run SuSEconfig then edit your /etc/hosts and /etc/routes.conf. At least thats what I remember doing under SuSE 2.4.7 when we changed host names for our Linux systems. Al Schilla State of Minnesota

I built a replacement for 'rockhopper' which is currently called 'nokomis' . I know that the httpd server got customized tor the 'nokomis' name and IP address. Fairly trivial to change. What I'm mostly concerned with is the non-obvious stuff. What else gets twiddled under the covers that might get welded to the IP and machine name. This is a 'SuSE' installation, 2.4.9 kern. I could use yast and create a ETH1 configuration... but my concern is that because Both the old 'Rockhopper' and what is running as 'nokomis' but needs to become rockhopper are using the same ENTR card, but diff ports, I am going to have a problem setting up the device. Sorry. That was a bit rambling. Need my caffeine. So how screwed am I here? Moderately? Totally?
