The packaging of SuSE RPM's (SLES7 particularly) is a little different than RedHat, mainly in how the INIT process is handled, logfiles, and (possibly) that SuSE used inetd vs. xinetd. I've had to do major surgery on RPM's to make them build properly on SLES7.
It doesn't help that packagers routinely violate the rules of RPM packaging when they build. > -----Original Message----- > From: Kenneth Illingsworth [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 9:12 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [LINUX-390] MySQL-4.0.1-2.src.rpm > > > I am now working on a SuSE v7.2 distribution for an s390 VM. > I found the following tarballed version of MySQL: > > mysql-standard-4.0.12-ibm-linux-s390.tar > > However, I have always had better luck installing MySQL from > an RPM file.
