Dave, is this an install or adding dasd after the install? I have done both
with SLES8 on RAMAC (STK) with no problems as well as Shark.
The usual suspects are:
- during the install, did you "load" the dasd before going to next?
after install:
- have you added the devices to your zipl.conf and done the zipl?
- do you use cio_ignore and the volumes you want are in the ignore list?
- if not in the zipl.conf list, did you try varying them on with
echo "set device rang=xxx-yyy on" >> /proc/dasd/devices"
- if they're not in /proc/subchannels then they could be in th cio_ignore
list or not genned.
