Just to try things....

I brought up vncserver.
I connected to it with vncviewer.
I then brought up KDE. (it works)
Took 80 MB virtual to bring up KDE.
Is taking 20% of an H30 processor just to keep it idling.

For those that don't know, KDE is one of the graphical shells available
for Suse Linux. I run it on my desktop at home. Now, for a very, very
short period of time, I have a gui interface on the mainframe.

Brought up Konqueror (simular to Windows Explorer to go though
directories and files.)

The gui version of YaST, in all of its gory details.

OK....now I know.

VNC is complete enough for about any type of "windowing". But it is a
resource hog. Might be fine for very limited use, such as DB2 installs,
but not for every day use. Of course, other products might be worst.
This was a single user test. Perhaps only the first user gets hit with
the 20% cpu utilization while any additional user might just "coast"
along.

Now time to look at the other options discussed.

Thanks
