Well, I just typed in vncserver from the prompt under putty. It comes
with Suse 8 for 390 systems. Assuming you did the standard install.

The install CD then has the vncviewer code under the /dosutils directory.

Works great.

Except, dosutils doesn't mean works under dos. It is Windows code. I
tried bringing up vncviewer under OS/2. Didn't work.

While I have been a member of this list for some time, I still consider
myself a newbee. When you say that you "brought up the vncserver" was
that on the os/390 platform? If so, how did you get it installed? I
can only find x86 code to download. We need this capability to install
Oracle 9i on our z/OS system.

Thanks to all for some great information on this server....

Just to try things....

I brought up vncserver.
I connected to it with vncviewer.
I then brought up KDE. (it works)
Took 80 MB virtual to bring up KDE.
Is taking 20% of an H30 processor just to keep it idling.
