Yes, a number of people have used this technique.  Did you update your
kernel parameters with the device number of the Vdisk?  Did you do a
modprobe on dasd_diag_mod?

We are trying to implement the VDISK for swap as outlined in the tip:

The problem is that within the linux guest there is no corresponding device
such as /dev/mnd? or /dev/dasd?.  We are running SLES8 under VM 4.3,
has anyone tried this?
