Hi,

I have a Linux 390 guest machine with all but the /boot partition using
LVM. Everything worked swimmingly until reboot. Now, on reboot, the
system halts with:

VFS: Cannot open root device "system/lv_root" or 00:00
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00

The kernel command line is:

Kernel command line: dasd=0200-207 root=/dev/system/lv_root noinitrd

This should be a valid LVM volume. Is there something I need to add to the
startup script to get the LVM volumes recognized? I'm running SLES8 -
2.4.19.

Also, should the system not be bootable, can the LVM volumes(minidisks) be
moved to another virtual guest? I've read the LVM HOW TO, unfortunately
running VGEXPORT is not possible because I can't get the original system
up. Is there a different way to get the volumes to another system?

Thanks,

Matt Lashley
