We have had Levanta Rel. 1 in on a trial. It's pretty impressive, although it had a few shortcomings, especially in the user interface. It would have been good for a few dozen small servers, but I wouldn't have wanted to use it for hundreds of servers or large Oracle databases.
We're getting Levanta Rel. 2 in for a trial this month. It's supposedly a complete rewrite of the product and is reported to address many of our concerns with Rel. 1. I'll let you know after I've had a bit of time to play with it. My management's biggest concern is the cost of the product. It's more expensive than z/VM itself. It's really going to have to justify itself in terms of saved labor costs. There is a lot of labor involved in setting up Levanta to manage Linux servers, but that labor is supposedly recovered in spades in the ease of creating new servers and applying service.
