I'll chime in agreement with Matt here. I'll also point out that the
"enterprise" versions of both RH and SuSE also follow a similar policy -- RH
AS2.1 is *really* ancient by now, and the AS 3 beta isn't all that close to
modern either. It's a different philosophy. IMHO, Debian full releases are
spaced about right -- there's plenty of time to get it right before
declaring it "stable".

The Debian guys are also a lot further ahead in providing management tools
for packages. APT is IMHO, much superior to up2date or YOU, both in function
and useability/manageability.

I don't see it at all as a moving target. It's no worse that Windows or AIX,
and you have a lot more control over what you get without having to roll
your own.
