I've just finished teaching a two-day class with a long flight home, so I'm feeling a little dogmatic today...
There is no such thing as "Linux on zOS." z/OS is an operating system, that has nothing to do with Linux, other than it runs on IBM mainframes. IBM has some really long names intended to get all their hardware platforms mentioned in the current politically correct order. Most people just refer to it as Linux/390 or zLinux (the latter of which I absolutely _hate_ for some reason). Mainframe Linux, Linux on the mainframe, and similar variations are seen much less frequently, but draw some ire from people who think their favorite OS runs on a (non-IBM) mainframe.
