I did IPL the 2.4.24 kernel, and I was able to modprobe the qeth driver,
bring up a QDIO eth0, and ping another guest.  So, it _works_, but is it

Thanks for this help, it does work, and 2.4.24 looks more stable than
2.4.21 for me. (dont know why, but 2.4.21 kept on hanging: no kernel
panic, no hardware message, no nothing, just completly stops responding)
If some step can be taken to move the kernel source tree closer to
work on big iron without the desire for patching, take it...
