Ahhh...the good ol' days...!! I remember eons ago when it was proposed that we change the default CMS FORMAT blocksize from 1K to 4K (after having changed a few years earlier from 800 bytes to 1K). After much analysis, hand-wringing, crying, screaming, and gnashing of teeth, 4K was the winner. The beauty is, you don't have to format all disks with the same blocksize.
