Does anyone on this list have any idea what the REAL licensing requirements are for
DB2/Connect on Linux/390 on an IFL?

We have a need to use DB2/Connect from Linux/390 to access DB2 databases on z/OS
platforms running on other machines in our data center. We don't need DB2/UDB, just
connect capability. We have DB2/VM in the same machine, but not on the IFLs. The
DB2/VM package came with a stack of CD's, one of which contains all of DB2 for
Linux/390 on it, but I'm not sure we have a license to use it. It also contains DB2
for various types of Unix.

Is this a no-cost license?
If so, where can I download it?

If it is a cost item, how is it licensed?
        By processor?
        By hardware platform?
        By individual Linux server?
Any idea how much for a z/800 with 2 IFL's?

Does the fact that I have DB2/VM on the same machine help any?

We're trying for a Websphere license for the Linux IFL LPAR. That contains DB2/UDB,
doesn't it? Would that mean I'm licensed for DB2/Connect automatically?

I've asked this question of:
        Our DB2 installation folks
        Our software license tracking people
        Our procurement/materiel buyers
        Our in-house IBM rep
Other IBM reps in the local office
and I get different and conflicting answers everyplace I ask.

Can anyone help me answer this question?
