A long and twisted road indeed. You can pay for DB2 Connect in a number of ways.
It is MSU (and maybe PSLC) priced so that you pay based on the size of the processor for z/OS. Depending upon some factors this may be best. The next is Application Server pricing. You pay for DB2 Connect based on the number of database servers that will be accessed. The next is unlimited pricing. You pay for DB2 Connect one time and can have unlimited use (this may be limited to a certain number of processors). Quoting prices is usually frowned upon, so I won't do that here. WebSphere Version 5 doesn't come with nor require DB2 anymore. It uses XML files for all of it's internal storage needs.
