Well ... after all that, it was a typo. [blush]
One of the lines in chandev.conf has all three addrs,
and another has just two (top and bottom of range). Fine.
So I screwed-up the latter and had the +1 address where I
should have had +0. Sorry about that. But thanks for the feedback.

However ... I just blew a bit more time uselessly
unloading/reloading/unloading/reloading the critters
with changes to chandev. (Until I finally found the error.)
Changes were not picked up. This we might should ought to fix. :-S

I was going to post, "My bad. It was a typo.",
but instead kept at it, and kept quiet about my own mistake,
thinking there was still something wrong. Grrr...

Anyway, On Wed, 10 Mar 2004, Alan Altmark wrote:

I guess I should have thought of that myself. Sorry.
As if it were relevent, here 'tis:

        /etc/modules.conf:
        alias eth0 qeth

        /etc/chandev.conf:
        noauto
        qeth0,0xe406,0xe407,0xe408,0,0
        add_parms,0x10,0xe406,0xe408,portname:GIGPF0

But just to be clear, this DOES work now,
now that I got the "0xe406" right in the last line.
But a reboot is required whenever /etc/chandev.conf is changed.

Thanks as always, Alan!
