Is YaST checking or just loading. I can see the corec/prec but the mode of
the machine. I checked the latest planning guide and there are no new
machine modes beyond ESA or XC. I'm set at ESA mode with a 1GB virtual
machine. We loaded another distrio from another site last night and it
gave the same problem. Still lost.

How do you have the guest defined? Is it defined as a 64-bit machine (I
don't know enough about CP directory entries to know if this is even a
choice or not)?
If the installation kernel booted up in 31-bit mode, and you try to install
a "s390x" rpm, it will complain about the architecture difference, just as
you saw.

We are attempting a SUSE install but YaST is returning:
package aaa_base-2002.2.4-3 is for a different architecture
when we attempt to use the 64bit beta. The Install is on a z800 running zVM
4.3. The 32bit YaST install process just stops after about 30 minutes with
no apparent symptoms. YaST is using the FTP installation option from CD1
which as been brought down from the SUSE FTP site to a local PC.
Any suggestions, comments, Ect...?
