Did you check out /tmp/db2setup.err.running to see if there
was anything "interesting" logged before the "solemn event"?
Also, you might look in the directory where you ran things
from "/usr/local/downloads/db2/linux390/install/db2jinst" as
the JVM's typically don't leave full core files laying around,
but some do leave a little text file "synopsis" of what state
things were in when it died. I can't remember what the
naming convention for them is off hand, but it should be
pretty obvious and the file will be very small, only a
few lines of text, but usually very informative.
