To prevent this being beyond everyone else:

My reference was to the television programme of the mid-1960s, bought from France by 
the BBC
and voiced-over by Eric Thompson - Ermintrude was a cow.

The other reference is to a ring of traffic islands arranged at the apexes of a 
hexagon - the
whole thing represents one huge traffic island, but you can choose which way round to 
go.
Specially designed for American tourists.
