It would be interesting to find out if an Oracle database built on a SAN LUN from (for example) an Intel Linux version or Oracle, or a Sun version of Oracle, would be directly useable by Oracle running on Linux/390. I'm not talking about sharing, just standalone use by Linux/390 Oracle of a database built on Oracle running on another platform.
It would be a good advertisement for the 'pure' nature of Linux/390 and of Oracle on Linux/390. There are people using Linux/390 and SANs (although the SCSI over FCP support is relatively new). There are people running Linux/390 and Oracle. I don't know that it means anything because no one has responded that they use all three in combination. I don't see anything that would prevent it all from working. The same would hold true in a VM environment. It should all work fine, given the appropriate tuning. I'd appreciate any info you could pass me with that configuration. Whether you send it to the LIST or my personal email is your choice. Hopefully, someone out there is either running or has run in the environment mentioned in the suject line also. But if I get NO replies I guess that something also.
