We run LINUX/390 on a z800 and did proof of concept work for both SAN LUN's (EMC SAN) and Oracle data bases. The performance on the mainframe dasd (STK raid 5, turbo) was better than the SAN.
Our Oracle database testing was not done on the SAN. We used LVM and mainframe dasd. We had no problems with Oracle 9.2.
