I can confirm that in the /images directory of CD1 are the kernel and initrd
needed to boot the installer system.

No, IBM will not support DB2 running on this distribution. I don't imagine
too many ISVs will either. Companies/people would _hope_ that IBM and
others would do so but the response has been pretty disappointing so far. I
understand that getting products certified on multiple platforms is very
expensive, but it is still disappointing.

Thanks Steve,

I re-read your e-mail and I must have misinterpreted it, but I see what you
mean now. The very road you're treading down with DB2 is the EXACT reason
why I'm investigating TAO.

Does IBM sanction running DB2 on this release? Will companies expect
vendors, like us, to support our DB2 tools on this release?

These are the kinds of questions I'm asking myself and eventually will have
to respond to from others. So, I have to decide whether or not to install
TAO and experiment with it (which I will probably do).

I certainly didn't mean to start a flaming war with this thread, nor was it
my intent to insult the author or others.

I thought I answered this in a previous email, but either the email didn't
make it or I wasn't clear. Yes, TAO provides the image(s) to IPL it in VM.
You need to upload the images to VM. I've already installed TAO a couple of
weeks ago and am working on installing DB2. Steve G.
