First - is the "Recovery Center" a regular D.R. provider such as Sungard? If so, then
ask them to have z/VM available. I just did that with Sungard and they said they would
do that at NO extra cost.

If the "Recovery Center" is another location, but still your company, nicely ask the
people there if they could make the device numbers in the Linux LPAR to be the same as
they are at your location. I am the sysprog who maintains the IOCDS/IODF definations
where I work. I assure you that this is possible and not really very difficult. A bit
of a pain, so that's why you might want to try to "butter them up".

If the "Recovery Center" is not a regular D.R. provider, nor another company location,
but separate company with which you have some sort of "arrangement", then I'd try
asking them (very politely) if it would be at all possible to match your device
numbers in the Linux LPAR. Note that creating a separate LPAR defination for you is
not really very difficult, just a bit of a bother. We did something similar and
(paranoid that I am), when I defined the LPAR, I only allowed access to EXACTLY the
DASD addresses that the other company was to use. No way was I going to allow them
access to OUR disk addresses! Also, be aware that having an deactivated LPAR
defination does not have any "overhead" other than maintaining the defination. I.e.
they can create this LPAR defination for your use only and do not need to "shared" the
defination with any other system. I hope that I said that in a way that makes sense.
