> I am able to connect to this linux using putty with no problems. Different animal entirely. What you want to test is whether the remote system can connect back to the X server running on your PC -- remember, for X, server and client are backwards from what you expect.
Start the X server on your workstation. Connect with putty to the remote Linux system, log in, set your DISPLAY variable to point back to your workstation (the machine running the X server) and type 'xterm &'. If you see a terminal window appear, then it's not the X server configuration, but something in xdm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
