You've got DDR included in the package, which does roughly the same
thing. HELP DDR for instructions. You need to move a tape drive over to
VM to use it, though. If you have disks that support snapshot
capability, this is a lot easier, but caveat emptor: if you want a
consistent backup, you still need to shut down Linux to get it.

This does have the same problem with backup consistency, etc that DFDSS
does. You should look into building a specific guest to do backups and
deploying an Amanda server on that guest, or look into using SMS on z/OS
and Amanda. Much easier to use and automate, and gives you file level
backup capability instead of images.
