Should work. It'll waste a lot of disk space, because you'll have to use
full volumes on the MP2K instead of minidisks. If you can get a couple
full volumes on the VM system, this will be a lot easier and waste a lot
less volumes on the MP2K.

In any case, set up your virtual machine to have the minidisks you want
to use at the SAME physical addresses that they exist on the MP2K. Make
sure you're using the same disk type (ie, 3390 in both places).

Build the Linux system on the minidisks. Make sure that you don't use
duplicate disk labels when you do the CDL format of the new minidisks.

Move a copy of standalone DDR to the front of the tape, or have a tape
handy with standalone DDR on it. HELP DDR for details.

DDR the minidisks from minidisk to tape. Make certain to include cyl 0
of the minidisk in the copy all the way to the end of the minidisk.

Mount the tapes on the MP2K and DDR from tape to the disk volumes,
including cyl 0.

IPL the MP2K from the disk at the same address as you IPLed the virtual
machine from. Should come up.
