OK, folks. All kidding aside for one note. We still have a large need for session chairpeople for the upcoming SHARE meeting in NYC. I realize that the "wisdom" is to never volunteer for anything. However, the reality is that without volunteers there would be no Linux and VM Program at SHARE. In fact, there would be no SHARE conference at all, as 90% of the people who run it are volunteers.
Of all the volunteer jobs at SHARE, the easiest by far is to be a session chairperson. If we do not get enough volunteers to do this job, then the "ribbon wearers" (those of us who already do other volunteer work at SHARE) have to pull double duty. Since many of us are already speaking 3 or 4 or more times, and running the program, this adds to our work. (By the way, you may not realize it, but we all pay the registration fee too. We don't go for free, despite the work we do to put on the program.) I don't want this note to degrade into a whine. We all speak and volunteer because we enjoy it. However, the response to the calls for chairpeople has been the most disappointing that I have ever seen. Only 1 volunteer has come forward so far. So, here is one more plea. If you are attending SHARE in 2 weeks and are planning on attending any of the sessions listed below, please volunteer to chair one or two of them. It is not hard and we will give you all the information you'll need. Please contact me off list. Martha Mon 09:30 9258 Linux for zSeries - Where Do I Find the Information?
