You really need to download the /slackware tree from ftp.ibiblio.org to a system over which you have control. Since I know a lot of people on this list don't have local Linux/UNIX systems to set up an NFS export, I added the SMB/CIFS support to the installer. That means that you should be able to use any Linux/UNIX or Windows system to do the download and act as the installation media server.

I've downloaded the kernel, initrd, and tape parmfile. I've setup a TDF for hercules to use for the IPL. Everything works fine and I'm able to SSH in. I've formated and partitioned a DASD volume. OK, now I'm ready to install some stuff, here's where I'm stuck. The installation doesn't have an option for installing via ftp. It has options for a DASD image, NFS, SAMBA, and pre-mounted directory. I tried to use ftp.ibiblio.org for the NFS and SAMBA installs but obviously that didn't work. Any hints or suggestions would be appreicated! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
