The source of this problem is most likely due to creating a filesystem on
a CDL
formatted device instead of a partition. Please review your installation
steps
to ensure that you are using the correct device file (e.g. /dev/dasdb1
instead
of /dev/dasdb) when issuing the mkfs command. There should be no data
corruption issues relating to the use of the CDL format.

The suggestion you found on the IBM support website will work as a
workaround as the
quoted installation instructions include the correct steps to set up a
filesystem on a
partition. As already stated in another reply though, the use of the LDL
format
will complicate handling of those devices from other operating systems.
We'll see
that we update this web site entry to include this information.
