OK... Your DHCP client is outside the OSA and the server is using one of
the OSA interfaces. That should work.

You mentioned some /var/log/messages earlier. Those must have been in your
server, so you probably have messages indicating that the DHCPDISCOVER
arrived and a DHCPOFFER was sent to the client?

Do you have a workstation in that same broadcast domain with your DHCP
client and your OSA Express where you can run something like tcpdump to
monitor the network? You should certainly see the DHCPDISCOVER broadcast
from your client to the OSA, but if you don't see the DHCPOFFER back from
the OSA, you know the problem must be between the OSA and your server. If
you see the DHCPDISCOVER from another workstation (and it has the right
destination MAC) you know the problem is with the client.

Regards,
Dennis

             Please respond to
             Linux on 390 Port

Guys,
my DHCP client is a Windows2000. The Server is a
z/LINUX under z/VM but direct connected to an OSA.
The levels are:
KERNEL: 2.4.21-251-default s390x unknown
DHCP: dhcp-tools-1.2-107
      dhcpcd-1.3.22pl1-65
      dhcp-base-3.0.1rc9-53
      dhcp-relay-3.0.1rc9-53
      dhcp-server-3.0.1rc9-147
OSA: OSD Express card (level: 0334)

Any suggestions about MCL level?
Thank's in advance!
Max
