I have 3 QDIO OSAs defined to z/VM V5.1 TCP/IP with VIPA and mproute. All works great and access to z/VM is via the VIPA. I have no z/VM Guest yet. I configured a vswitch with the same 3 OSAs and then configured a vswctrl1 controller.
DEFINE VSWITCH VSWTCH00 RDEV F800 FC00 FD00 The vswctrl1 does not connect. I receive the following: The connection for VSWITCH system VSWTCH00 is not active Device is already attached q osa OSA F800 ATTACHED TO TCPIP F800 OSA F801 ATTACHED TO TCPIP F801 OSA F802 ATTACHED TO TCPIP F802 OSA FC00 ATTACHED TO TCPIP FC00 OSA FC01 ATTACHED TO TCPIP FC01 OSA FC02 ATTACHED TO TCPIP FC02 OSA FD00 ATTACHED TO TCPIP FD00 OSA FD01 ATTACHED TO TCPIP FD01 OSA FD02 ATTACHED TO TCPIP FD02 Reveals that they are attached to TCPIP, which makes sense since I am using them for z/VM TCPIP. If I use an OSA for z/VM fault tolerant configuration as part of VIPA, (w/ device and link statements in profile tcpip) does that mean I cannot use the same OSA for a vswitch? Be gentle, I am a z/VM newbie.
