When I read that statement in the redbook it surprised me. The
explanation that I got from some folks is that when Domino is doing
system processes it sometimes forgets to service the end users.
Because those system processes are single threaded they will only use
one virtual CPU. So when the virtual machine has another virtual CPU
that allows the clients to be served even though the application was
not designed to do that.
If you're aware of that effect, it should not be a reason not to do
your proof of concept. I don't think it makes sense to give the
virtual machine two virtual CPUs when you only have one real CPU in
the machine.
