I'd say that if it's documented to work with SMB, then it really ought to work *w/o* having to do a lot of hokey workarounds. For the kind of money you're paying for a SLES license, every single documented function -- particularly in the install program -- should "just work" without excuses. I agree that your method gets the job done, but that a major documented feature DOESN'T work is something that I'd ask the Novell folks to look into more closely. Both SLES8 SP3 and SLES 9 have had severe packaging or installation process problems (this having to do a bunch of manual steps at the end that are buried in the installation notes is pretty lame -- if you can leave a script to do it, then you can *run* the script automagically without the user having to remember to do it). C'mon, Novell folks. This is important fit and finish stuff -- it affects how seriously enterprises take Linux. If you need help with the testing, ask us. It's a lot cheaper to get it right the first time than to have to fix it later. -- db ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
