If you change the default virtual machine size in the CP directory,
you will have to logoff / logon the virtual machine or shutdown Linux,
issue the DEF STOR command, and IPL Linux again. A change in virtual
machine size causes a reset of the virtual machine, and Linux would
not handle it either.

When you are talking about change to the portion of real memory that
you care to devote to the virtual machine (e.g. with SET RESERVED)
then that is dynamic and does not require a reboot of Linux.
