I am trying to birng up hipersockets on our Linux LPAR to provide alternate connection from our z/VM environment so I can change IP on eth0 and still be able to connect via hipersockts.
[ I have set up hipersockets on z/VM guests running SLES9 without any problem!] This LPAR is running SLES8 and YaST on that is not slick - no user-interface for configuring NIC. a) I can upgrade to new (SLES9 has it) YaST, if it is feasible b) manually configure hipersockets. I notice that the CHPIDs are already defined. I am hoping that by following the procedure on pages 58-59 of "zSeries Hiperdockets Guide" I will be able to define hipersockets. I am not sure if this requires a reboot. If so, I can not do it unless a downtime has been agreed upon. I also find some discrepencies between documentation and how SLES8 defines the interface in /etc/chandev.conf. I might have missed some discussion on this before. Please bear with me. Appreciate your help. __________________________________________ Ranga Nathan / CSG Systems Programmer - Specialist; Technical Services; BAX Global Inc.
