Oracle recommends 1.5Gig but of course you can use less if you use VDISK swap files but 512Meg seems low- are you swapping? What does vmstat say? We followed the Redbook (you probably are too) but found when vmstat says we're swapping quite a bit, the customers complain the servers are too slow. I'd try 768Meg and see if the user sees an improvement. We only have 1 Oracle database right now and I haven't gotten around to tuning the memory yet. As far as loops go- we haven't seen any with 9.2.0.3 or 9.2.0.4. What version are you running?
