I have to admit, trying to manage a lot of guests with just putty can
get old (IMHO).

I use a linux desktop and find it much easier. I also try to stick with
the same flavor on the desktop that I am using on the guests (SuSE).

When I am stuck with a Windows machine the first thing I do is install
Cygwin.

Then you will have xserver and bash commands available. No need for
hummingbird.
