Actually, I probably phrased my question wrong. What I was looking for is why choose Zseries Linux over ANY OTHER operating system's Linux ?

Or (broader) Linux on zSeries versus Linux on something else? Or (much more broadly) Linux on zSeries versus Unix-or-Linux-or-another-Unix-alike on any architecture whatsoever? Since your initial presentation is about Linux on zSeries versus USS, the first seems likely (and the easiest to address), but the rest of your question seems to be pointing to one of the other options.
