Simplest is: 1) set up remote login using SSH keys instead of userid/pw (see ssh-keygen and ssh man page) on mainframe linux.
2) on Intel: ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] command your $DISPLAY var and shell environment are carried over to the mainframe Linux if set on Intel, and the client pops up just like it was local. You may need to experiment a bit with xhost to allow remote clients to connect to your X server, but it should work without problem. -- db ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
