The desktop opens up a bunch of windows and you create a mess of
various windows on your workstation managed by two different window
managers. You probably should not run a desktop but stick to just
running an application instead. If you really want a GUI desktop you
might want to look at one of those X-apps that can run a desktop in a
window again (cannot remember the name).
